2020-2021 CFA institute research challenge Kick-off event

About the Kick-Off Event

CFA Institute and CFA Association Russia are officially launching Research Challenge, an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Participants gain real-world experience as they assume the roles of research analysts, getting tested on their abilities to value a stock, write a financial report, and present their recommendations in-person to a panel of senior industry professionals.

Research Challenge is coordinated at the local level by CFA Association Russia. The official start of the competition, the Kick-Off event, will be held online and welcome all participants of the 2020-2021 Research Challenge. During the Kick-Off, Konstantin Belov, senior Analyst, Telecoms/Technologies, Uralsib - will talk about the subject company - Yandex N.V. and students will meet members of CFA Association Russia, learn about the rules of the competition, and ask organizational questions.

Graduated from the New Economic School and studied applied mathematics at Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Konstantin Belov is engaged in stock market analysis in the telecommunications sector, as well as in the media and high-tech sectors.
Previously, Konstantin worked as a buy-side financial analyst at Wermuth Asset Management, where he was responsible both for the analysis of the Russian and global stock markets, and for the analysis of the derivatives market, debt instruments and the Forex market, and also participated in the development of recommendations for investment portfolio management and development of investment strategies.

Draft reports submission. Teams must submit a draft report to advance further in the competition.

Jan 18, 2021
Final report submission. All final reports must be submitted no later than 6 PM

Jan 29, 2021
Video presentation submission. Teams must submit a 10-minute video of their verbal presentation in English.

Feb 25, 2021
Local final. Online event. The top four teams with the highest report scores will be invited to a final event in Moscow, which in 2021 will be held online. During the final, the teams will present their report in front of a panel of judges. Two winning teams will represent CFA Russia in the EMEA Regional Final.

Apr 20, 2021
EMEA Regional Final. Online event. Winners of all CFA societies across the EMEA region in 2021 will meet online to find out the best team, which will represent the region in the Global Final.

All team members, faculty advisers, volunteers, and other guests planning to attend the Kick-Off must register prior to 2 PM on the day of the event.
